Overview

Zinc finger protein 593 is a protein characterized by a classic C2H2-type zinc finger domain embedded within a predominantly intrinsically disordered framework[1][2][3][5]. It enables preribosome binding and zinc ion binding activity, and is involved in the positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II[1][5]. ZNF593 acts as a negative modulator of the DNA-binding activity of the Oct-2 (a POU domain-containing transcription factor), thus influencing transcriptional regulatory activity[1][2][3][5]. The protein localizes primarily to the nucleolus and nucleoplasm[1][5]. Current literature does not identify ZNF593 as a direct therapeutic target, biomarker, or drug-interaction partner, nor is it directly linked to a major disease context; its principal recognized function is as a regulatory transcription factor associated with ribosome biogenesis and gene expression modulation[1][2][3][5].
