Zinc finger protein 603, pseudogene (ZNF603P) is a noncoding genomic locus homologous to functional zinc finger transcription factors, but classified as a pseudogene in humans. Unlike protein-coding zinc finger proteins, which regulate transcription and DNA binding, ZNF603P is not known to produce an active protein, and there are no recognized biological roles, disease associations, or therapeutic targeting reported for it. ZNF603P shares nomenclature and sequence similarity with functional members of the zinc finger protein family—characterized by zinc-coordinating transcription factor motifs—but in this case, the gene lacks evidence of functional expression or protein product in humans. As a pseudogene, ZNF603P does not encode functional protein or have direct biological activity, and no reported association with diseases due to lack of functional activity. ZNF603P should not be considered a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or other biologically functional molecule. It is properly classified as a pseudogene, not a transcription factor, receptor, or enzyme. No known drugs, disease roles, biomarkers, or safety concerns are associated.
