Zinc finger protein 639 (ZNF639) is a member of the Kruppel-like C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family that binds DNA and may function as a transcriptional repressor[4][5][2]. Amplification and overexpression of ZNF639 have been observed in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma[3]. It has also been implicated in the regulation of HIV-1 gene expression and alternative splicing, resulting in multiple transcript variants[3]. The protein is primarily associated with gene regulation through DNA-binding transcription factor activity[3][5][2][4].
