Overview

Zinc finger protein 655 (ZNF655) is a member of the C2H2-type zinc finger protein family that functions as a transcription factor involved in DNA binding and protein–protein interactions[1][3][7]. It contains multiple zinc finger motifs and is related to the Kruppel-like gene family. ZNF655 has several alternative isoforms and is ubiquitously expressed. It interacts with proteins such as Vav-1 and cyclin-dependent kinase 4 and can shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm. ZNF655 is implicated in the regulation of the cell cycle—specifically, its overexpression can inhibit cell cycle progression, an effect reversible by Vav-1[2][4][6]. Elevated levels of ZNF655 have been associated with increased proliferation, migration, and tumor formation in several cancers, including hepatocellular carcinoma and pancreatic cancer, suggesting a potential role in cancer progression[8]. Notes: - At the time of this response, ZNF655 is not a well-established therapeutic target (e.g., receptor, enzyme, or known drug target), and there are no known drugs directly targeting it, nor established mechanisms of drug action or biomarker applications documented[1][8]. - The core function is as a transcription factor rather than as a "therapeutic target" per conventional drug discovery definitions[1][6][8].
