Zinc finger protein 679 (ZNF679)

Target
ZNF679
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, C2H2-type zinc finger protein
01

Overview

Zinc finger protein 679 (ZNF679) is a predicted DNA-binding transcription factor belonging to the C2H2-type zinc finger protein family. It is encoded by the ZNF679 gene in humans and is thought to regulate gene expression by binding cis-regulatory DNA regions and influencing transcription via RNA polymerase II. The protein is predominantly localized to the nucleus. While the broader zinc finger protein (ZNF) family has established functional roles in regulation of transcription, RNA processing, cellular development, and disease, the specific biological and pathological roles of ZNF679 remain largely uncharacterized, and it is not currently considered a validated or therapeutic drug target.
