Zinc finger protein 681 (ZNF681) is a protein encoded by the ZNF681 gene in humans. It contains both a Krueppel-associated box (KRAB) domain and multiple zinc-finger motifs, molecular features characteristic of a subclass of regulatory proteins known as transcription factors. ZNF681 is predicted to participate in transcriptional regulation by binding to nucleic acids, most likely DNA. Non-functional variants of the gene occur in some population genome assemblies. There is no resolved 3D structure for this protein. While ZNF681 has been associated with Dandy-Walker Syndrome, its underlying biological and disease roles remain poorly defined. No drugs targeting ZNF681 have been reported, it is not established as a biomarker, and there are currently no safety concerns or therapeutic applications known for this protein.
