Zinc finger protein 684 (ZNF684) is a human protein encoded by the ZNF684 gene located on chromosome 1. It belongs to the zinc finger family of proteins, which typically function as transcription factors by binding sequence-specifically to DNA. ZNF684 is predicted to regulate transcription by RNA polymerase II, with potential involvement upstream of gene expression control, including possible roles in innate immune response and suppression of viral RNA replication through DNA intermediates. Its molecular function centers on DNA binding; however, its physiological and disease relevance is largely uncharacterized, and it is not currently pursued as a therapeutic target[1][5][6][7].
