Zinc finger protein 691 is a predicted DNA-binding transcription factor of the C2H2 zinc finger protein family, primarily localized in the nucleus and thought to be involved in the regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. ZNF691's function is inferred from homology and domain structure; it has not been conclusively established as a therapeutic target. It shares general characteristics with other zinc finger proteins, such as mediating gene expression and potentially participating in cell differentiation and other regulatory processes. There are currently no clinically validated roles for ZNF691 in disease pathogenesis, patient selection, or therapeutic intervention.
