Zinc finger protein 696 (ZNF696)

Target
ZNF696
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, Zinc finger protein, DNA-binding protein, Member of the zinc finger family
01

Overview

Zinc finger protein 696 (ZNF696) is a predicted DNA-binding transcription factor belonging to the zinc finger protein family in humans. It is encoded by the ZNF696 gene and consists of 374 amino acids. ZNF696 is thought to participate in a regulatory role in transcription by RNA polymerase II and is localized to the nucleus. While the zinc finger protein family has diverse and significant roles in gene regulation, cell cycle, apoptosis, and disease, there is no specific evidence to date linking ZNF696 individually to a distinct biological pathway, disease, or therapeutic intervention. Aliases include FLJ14129, ZNF696, and zinc finger protein 696. The molecule is not currently recognized as a druggable therapeutic target or diagnostic biomarker.
