Zinc finger protein 7 (ZNF7)

Target
ZNF7
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, C2H2-type zinc finger protein, Krueppel family zinc finger protein
01

Overview

Zinc finger protein 7 is a member of the C2H2-type zinc finger protein family and is predicted to act as a DNA-binding transcription factor regulating transcription by RNA polymerase II[1][5]. It contains structured zinc finger domains that allow sequence-specific binding to DNA, participating in the modulation of gene expression. ZNF7 is localized predominantly in the nucleus and may be involved in fine regulatory control of cell processes, although its precise endogenous target genes and regulatory roles remain to be fully characterized[1][5]. Mutations in related domains, such as the ZnF7 domain of the A20 protein, have been tied to immune dysregulation and autoinflammatory responses in animal models, suggesting that ZNF7 or its family members may have roles in inflammatory and immune processes[1][5]. General functions of C2H2-type zinc finger proteins include transcription regulation, chromatin remodeling, genome stability, and mediation of cell differentiation and development[2][3][4].
