Overview

Zinc finger protein 705D (ZNF705D) is a member of the large and diverse zinc finger protein family, characterized by the presence of zinc finger motifs—most commonly of the C2H2 type—that facilitate binding to DNA and sometimes to RNA or protein targets[1][3][8]. ZNF705D is predicted to function as a transcription factor, likely regulating gene expression via sequence-specific DNA binding and involvement in RNA polymerase II-mediated transcription, and its molecular architecture includes zinc finger domains and a KRAB (Krüppel-associated box) domain associated with transcriptional repression[7][8]. While zinc finger proteins as a group play critical roles in genome stability, cell differentiation, and diverse processes including cell proliferation and apoptosis, there is currently no direct evidence for ZNF705D as a validated therapeutic target, nor are there currently drugs, biomarkers, or known specific safety concerns associated with this protein[1][3][7][8]. ZNF705D is primarily localized to the cell nucleus consistent with its regulatory functions[7][8]. If more specific functional or disease associations with ZNF705D emerge in future research, this assessment may change; however, present knowledge classifies ZNF705D as a putative transcriptional regulator with no direct druggability or established therapeutic use.
