While zinc finger proteins are the largest family of human transcription factors and function primarily as DNA-binding proteins to mediate regulation of gene expression[2][3][5], ZNF705EP itself is predicted—but not confirmed—to enable DNA-binding transcription factor activity specific to regulation by RNA polymerase II[6][1]. The functional product and physiological relevance of this pseudogene are not established, and it is not known to encode a functional protein or act as a drug target.
