Zinc finger protein 736 (ZNF736)

Target
ZNF736
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, Zinc finger protein, KRAB domain-containing protein

Overview

Zinc finger protein 736 (ZNF736) is a member of the zinc finger protein superfamily, characterized by the presence of C2H2-type zinc finger domains and a KRAB (Krüppel-associated box) domain, typically associated with transcriptional repression. Zinc finger proteins are among the most abundant transcription factors in eukaryotes and play key roles in DNA binding, gene regulation, chromatin remodeling, and cellular differentiation[2][3][1]. ZNF736 encodes a protein predicted to function primarily in transcription regulation, likely through sequence-specific DNA binding and gene silencing via its KRAB domain. It has been linked through genetic association to rare congenital skeletal disorders such as metatropic dysplasia and brachyolmia, but there is presently no evidence to support its use as a therapeutic drug target or biomarker in clinical practice[4].
