Zinc finger protein 738 (ZNF738)

Target
ZNF738
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, Zinc finger protein
01

Overview

Zinc finger protein 738 is a member of the zinc finger protein (ZNF) family, the largest family of transcription factors in humans. ZNF738 is predicted to play a role in transcriptional regulation via nucleic acid binding and may participate in protein polyubiquitination, based on gene ontology predictions. Zinc finger proteins typically function by binding DNA in a sequence-specific manner, modulating transcription, and participating in processes such as cell differentiation, apoptosis, and immune response. There is no direct evidence that ZNF738 is a disease gene or is therapeutically targeted. Like many C2H2-type zinc finger proteins, it is predicted to localize to the nucleus and regulate gene expression, but its precise molecular targets and physiological roles remain uncharacterized. There is no evidence ZNF738 is currently considered a druggable therapeutic target. It is not directly implicated in disease, but its family (zinc finger proteins) has roles in a range of biological pathways and diseases. No known small molecules or clinical agents are directed specifically against ZNF738. Functional details are still largely predicted and unvalidated; this is common for members of larger transcription factor families.
