Zinc finger protein 781 (ZNF781)

Target
ZNF781
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, Zinc finger protein
01

Overview

Zinc finger protein 781 is a predicted DNA-binding transcription factor, part of the zinc finger protein family. These proteins contain one or more conserved zinc finger motifs, most commonly the C2H2-type, which enable them to interact directly with DNA and regulate transcription. ZNF781 is localized in the nucleus and is part of the larger "zinc fingers" family, which includes many diverse proteins involved in gene regulation, development, cell differentiation, and other nuclear processes. Although hundreds of zinc finger proteins play vital roles in various biological functions and are implicated in disease processes such as cancer (e.g., ZNF281, ZNF750, ZNF185), direct disease associations or therapeutic relevance for ZNF781 have not yet been documented. Current evidence does not support ZNF781 as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter; it is classified as a predicted DNA-binding transcription factor, with molecular functions most closely tied to gene regulation within the nucleus.
