Zinc finger protein 789 (ZNF789)

Target
ZNF789
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, Zinc finger protein, C2H2-type zinc finger family
01

Overview

Zinc finger protein 789 (ZNF789) is a predicted DNA-binding transcription factor in humans, associated with the C2H2-type zinc finger protein family. Like other zinc finger proteins, ZNF789 is thought to bind specific DNA sequences via its zinc-coordinated finger motifs, thereby regulating gene expression typically by RNA polymerase II. ZNF789 localizes to the nucleoplasm and is predicted to function as a sequence-specific transcriptional regulator. The zinc finger family more broadly is known for regulating diverse cellular processes including transcription, cell cycle control, and DNA repair. While ZNF789 has functional associations with various genes and is linked to certain tumors, its precise biological roles and potential as a therapeutic target remain uncharacterized in the literature.
