Zinc finger protein 790 (ZNF790) is a human protein encoded by the ZNF790 gene that belongs to the zinc finger protein family, which is the largest family of transcription factors in the human genome[1][2][5][7]. These proteins characteristically contain zinc finger motifs—structural domains that facilitate binding to DNA, with the canonical function being regulation of gene transcription, most often through sequence-specific binding of DNA via RNA polymerase II cis-regulatory elements[2][5][6][7]. While zinc finger proteins as a class are involved in a wide range of cellular processes including cell differentiation, apoptosis, and the immune response, there is currently no evidence that ZNF790 is directly implicated in specific diseases or targeted by therapeutic drugs, nor is it recognized as a therapeutic target or biomarker[1][5][6][7].
