Target intelligence / Profile preview
Zinc finger protein 8 is a DNA-binding transcription factor predicted to act as a transcriptional repressor and negatively regulate transcription by RNA polymerase II[1][2][6][3]. It may play roles in BMP and TGF-beta signal transduction through its interaction with SMAD proteins. ZNF8 has been implicated in several diseases, including hypogonadotropic hypogonadism 12 with or without anosmia and the progression of gastrointestinal cancers in a p53-dependent manner, but is not currently considered a direct therapeutic target[1][6][7].
