Zinc finger protein 813 (ZNF813) is a human protein encoded by the ZNF813 gene, located on chromosome 19. It is predicted to function as a DNA-binding transcription factor, especially involved in RNA polymerase II-specific and cis-regulatory region sequence-specific DNA binding, and is believed to regulate transcription in the nucleus. As a member of the zinc finger protein family, ZNF813 possesses characteristic motifs for nucleic acid binding and regulation of gene expression. Zinc finger proteins are structurally diverse and play broad biological roles in DNA recognition, RNA packaging, transcriptional activation, protein assembly, and regulation of apoptosis. The only disease currently associated with ZNF813 is Coenzyme Q10 deficiency disease, but mechanistic or targetable links are not established.
