Zinc finger protein 850 is a predicted DNA-binding transcription factor containing C2H2 zinc finger motifs, primarily expressed in the nucleus and thought to be involved in regulating gene transcription via RNA polymerase II. Its molecular function includes DNA binding and zinc ion binding, consistent with the zinc finger protein superfamily. Functional analysis and tissue profiling suggest nuclear localization, but its specific biological roles, downstream targets, and clinical significance remain poorly characterized. There is a nominal disease association with hereditary spastic paraplegia type 56, but direct functional or therapeutic relevance is currently unestablished. No drugs or biomarkers targeting ZNF850 have been described, and there are no known associated safety concerns.
