Overview

Zinc finger protein 852 is a member of the classical C2H2 zinc finger protein family, a group that constitutes the largest family of transcription factors in the human genome[8][3][5]. These proteins commonly regulate gene expression by binding specific DNA sequences, and are involved in diverse functions including development, differentiation, and disease processes such as tumorigenesis[3][5][8]. ZNF852 is upregulated in gastric cancer cell lines and is essential for cancer cell proliferation, self-renewal, and resistance to the chemotherapeutic agent oxaliplatin[2][4][9]. Knockdown or loss of ZNF852 suppresses these cellular phenotypes and downregulates epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in gastric cancer cells, suggesting that this protein is a potential therapeutic target for gastric cancer intervention[2]. There is currently no evidence of approved drugs directly targeting ZNF852 in clinical use, but it may mediate sensitivity to chemotherapeutics through regulatory pathways in cancer cells[2][4].
