Overview

Zinc finger protein 865 (ZNF865) is a member of the C2H2-type zinc finger protein family, characterized by the presence of 20 zinc finger domains, two transactivation domains, and localization predominantly to the nucleus[1][2][4][5]. ZNF865 functions primarily as a DNA-binding transcription factor, regulating gene expression by interacting with the RNA polymerase II complex and influencing transcriptional programs[2][3][4][5]. It is broadly expressed in human tissues and is involved in fundamental processes such as cellular senescence, cell cycle progression, DNA replication, and DNA repair[1]. Low expression of ZNF865 is linked with increased incidence of Parkinson's disease, poor prognosis in esophageal cancer, and higher rates of musculoskeletal disease, suggesting its importance in maintaining normal cellular function and genomic stability[1]. At present, no drugs are known to directly target ZNF865, and it is not considered a direct therapeutic target, though its role in disease pathogenesis is under investigation[1][5].
