Zinc finger protein 99 (ZNF99)

Target
ZNF99
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, Zinc finger protein (C2H2-type)
01

Overview

Zinc finger protein 99 (ZNF99) is a member of the C2H2-type zinc finger transcription factor family found in humans[4][7]. Zinc finger proteins are characterized by their structural motifs that stabilize the protein fold via a zinc ion and are capable of binding DNA, thereby regulating the transcription of target genes[1][3][6]. The precise physiological and pathological functions of ZNF99 remain poorly characterized, but it is presumed to play a regulatory role in gene expression based on its structural similarity to other zinc finger proteins[7]. No drugs or known small molecules are reported to specifically modulate ZNF99, and there is no established use of ZNF99 as a disease biomarker or direct therapeutic target.
