Overview

Zinc finger protein with KRAB and SCAN domains 2 (ZKSCAN2) is a member of the ZSCAN subgroup of the large zinc finger protein family. Zinc finger proteins are the largest family of transcription factors in humans, characterized by C2H2-type zinc finger domains that bind to DNA and regulate gene expression[1][2][3]. ZKSCAN2 contains both a Krüppel-associated box (KRAB) domain, which functions in transcriptional repression, and a SCAN domain, which mediates protein–protein interactions, including dimerization with other transcription factors[3]. While the broad ZSCAN family has been implicated in various cancers, immune responses, and diverse cellular processes, the specific biological roles and disease associations of ZKSCAN2 have not been well-characterized in current literature. No FDA-approved drugs, direct disease biomarkers, or unique safety considerations have been reported for this protein as of now.
