Zinc finger SWIM domain-containing protein 1 (ZSWIM1)

Target
ZSWIM1
Molecular classification
Other, Zinc finger protein, SWIM-type zinc finger domain

Overview

Zinc finger SWIM domain-containing protein 1 is a protein encoded by the ZSWIM1 gene in humans. It contains a conserved SWIM-type zinc finger domain, which is predicted to allow zinc ion binding and facilitate DNA or protein interactions[1][3][5]. ZSWIM1 is part of a larger family of proteins sharing the SWIM domain, which are implicated in a range of biological processes, including transcriptional regulation and cell differentiation[2][10]. ZSWIM1 is predicted to be located predominantly in the nucleus[1][7]. While the precise biological role of ZSWIM1 remains poorly characterized, it has been noted as a potential biomarker in T helper cell differentiation[2]. ZSWIM1 is associated with certain diseases, notably Spermatogenic Failure 71 and Acromelic Frontonasal Dysostosis, but there is currently no evidence linking it directly to drug targeting or established mechanisms of therapeutic action[1]. No known drugs or clinical development efforts directly target ZSWIM1.
