Target intelligence / Profile preview
Zinc finger SWIM-type containing 5 pseudogene 1 (ZSWIM5P1) is a human pseudogene annotated on chromosome 17, homologous to the protein-coding gene ZSWIM5. ZSWIM5P1 does not code for a functional protein and thus is not considered a therapeutic target or candidate for biomarker development. The functional homolog ZSWIM5 is a zinc finger protein with possible tumor suppressor activity in non-small cell lung cancer, affecting cell proliferation and migration by downregulating cyclins and matrix metalloproteinases; ZSWIM5P1 itself does not share these properties as a pseudogene.[3][4][5][6]
