Overview

ZKSCAN7P1 (Zinc finger with KRAB and SCAN domains 7 pseudogene 1) is a noncoding pseudogene found in the human genome. It shares sequence similarity with members of the zinc finger protein family that contain KRAB and SCAN domains, specifically ZKSCAN7, a bona fide transcription factor involved in DNA binding and gene regulation[3][1][2][4]. ZKSCAN7P1 is annotated in public genetic databases including HGNC (49867), NCBI Gene (100419827), and Ensembl (ENSG00000256138)[3]. Unlike its functional counterpart ZKSCAN7, ZKSCAN7P1 does not produce a protein and is not involved in cellular signaling, transcriptional regulation, or disease processes. It is not considered a direct therapeutic target or biomarker.

Biological functions

Other (No demonstrated biological function since pseudogenes generally do not encode active proteins or exert direct molecular functions[3].)
03

Disease associations

Other (No established role in diseases. Functional roles listed in the literature pertain to other ZSCAN or zinc finger family members, not the pseudogene ZKSCAN7P1[3][1][4].)
