Zinc finger X-linked duplicated protein A (ZXDA)

Target
ZXDA
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, Zinc finger protein
01

Overview

ZXDA is a member of the zinc finger, X-linked, duplicated (ZXD) family of proteins and shares significant sequence homology with the related proteins ZXDC and ZXDB[1][2]. ZXDA contains ten C2H2-type zinc finger domains (involved in protein-protein and potentially DNA interactions) and a C-terminal transcriptional activation domain[2]. ZXDA, often forming a hetero-complex with ZXDC, is required for the transcriptional activation of MHC II genes, acting through interaction with the class II trans-activator (CIITA) protein[1][2][4]. Its role is vital for immune function, particularly antigen presentation by MHC II; ZXDA’s depletion impairs CIITA-mediated activation of MHC II genes[1][2][4]. ZXDA is thus best classified as a transcription factor involved in immune regulation, not as an enzyme, receptor, or transporter, and currently has no established direct pharmacological targeting or biomarker utility.
