Zinc-regulated GTPase metalloprotein activator 1B (ZNG1B) is a conserved vertebrate metallochaperone enzyme that regulates cellular zinc homeostasis. It activates metalloproteins by directly transferring zinc cofactors, specifically catalyzing zinc insertion into their active sites. ZNG1B is predicted to bind GTP, hydrolyze GTP, and bind metal ions, and may be located in the nucleus. Deficiency or dysfunction could potentially disrupt zinc-dependent cellular processes, though no clear disease associations are currently described.
