ZKSCAN2 divergent transcript (ZKSCAN2-DT) is an annotated long non-coding RNA located near the ZKSCAN2 gene, typically transcribed from the opposite strand in a head-to-head (divergent) configuration. Such divergent lncRNAs are often co-expressed with their protein-coding neighbors and are thought to be involved in the regulation of gene expression, particularly affecting transcriptional regulators like ZKSCAN2[1][2][4]. These transcripts do not encode proteins and are not established as direct therapeutic targets, biomarkers, or drug targets. ZKSCAN2-DT is not a receptor, enzyme, or other classical “drug target” molecule. There is no evidence of direct disease association or roles in specific pathological processes for ZKSCAN2-DT itself, although the neighboring ZKSCAN2 gene (a zinc finger and SCAN domain-containing transcription factor) is involved in gene regulation and cancer biology[3].
