The ZMPSTE24 divergent transcript (ZMPSTE24-DT) is a long non-coding RNA gene. Divergent transcripts are lncRNAs located within 300-500 nucleotides of a protein-coding gene, often transcribed in the opposite direction from a shared promoter region[11]. As with many lncRNAs, the functional biology of ZMPSTE24-DT remains largely uncharacterized. There is currently no evidence that ZMPSTE24-DT codes for a protein or acts as a therapeutic target. Functional studies and disease relevance have not been reported, and the transcript may serve regulatory or structural functions typical of other lncRNAs, but these roles have not been established for this gene[1][6][7][11].
