ZNF217 antisense RNA 1 (ZNF217-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed in the antisense direction relative to the ZNF217 gene. While it does not encode a protein, antisense lncRNAs such as ZNF217-AS1 are implicated in regulating their sense gene’s expression via mechanisms including chromatin remodeling, mRNA stabilization, and epigenetic modification. There is currently limited information specific to ZNF217-AS1's precise biological role or disease association; however, its location and class suggest it may modulate pathways involved in cancer biology by regulating the ZNF217 oncogene[2][5][7][8]. No drugs, biomarker roles, or direct clinical applications have been established for ZNF217-AS1.
