Overview

ZNF222 divergent transcript (ZNF222-DT) refers to a long non-coding RNA that is transcribed in the divergent (antisense) direction from the promoter region of the ZNF222 gene, a member of the C2H2 zinc finger transcription factor family. Divergent transcripts are commonly found at promoters of transcriptional regulators and developmental genes and are characterized by specific promoter architecture, such as large CpG islands, high conservation, distinct histone marks (H3K79me2), and bidirectional RNA polymerase II recruitment. While divergent lncRNAs are implicated in fine-tuning transcriptional regulation and chromatin states, there is currently no evidence that ZNF222-DT itself is a therapeutic target, nor are there known drugs, biomarker uses, or direct disease associations for this specific transcript[2]. No information supports its classification as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other typical drug target class.
