Target intelligence / Profile preview
ZNF225 antisense RNA 1 (ZNF225-AS1) is a long non-coding antisense RNA transcript that overlaps the ZNF225 and ZNF224 gene loci on chromosome 19. It does not encode a protein and is thought to regulate nearby gene expression by mechanisms typical of antisense RNAs, such as transcriptional interference, chromatin remodeling, and modulation of alternative splicing. ZNF225-AS1 is associated with Alzheimer's disease in genetic association studies, but its molecular function and disease mechanisms are not yet fully established. There are currently no known drugs or therapeutic interventions directly targeting ZNF225-AS1.
