Overview

ZNF232 antisense RNA 1 (ZNF232-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA transcribed antisense to the ZNF232 gene (zinc finger protein 232), a DNA-binding transcription factor. ZNF232-AS1 itself does not code for a protein but may regulate the expression of ZNF232 through epigenetic, transcriptional, or post-transcriptional mechanisms typical of antisense lncRNAs. It has no established function in normal biology or disease, but recent studies suggest its expression may be altered in cancers like hepatocellular carcinoma, where it could serve as a novel biomarker for prognosis. Currently, there is no evidence of it being a drug target, and there are no known drugs that interact specifically with ZNF232-AS1[5][7][9].
