ZNF295 antisense RNA 1 (ZNF295-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA gene located on chromosome 21q22.3. It functions primarily as an antisense RNA regulating gene expression, especially interacting with the ZNF295 gene. Recent literature highlights its role in regulating autophagy in endothelial cells, implicating it in the development and progression of atherosclerosis. It is associated through genetic studies with diseases including lung cancer susceptibility and autism spectrum disorder[1][3][9].
