Overview

ZNF341 antisense RNA 1 (ZNF341-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA that is transcribed in the antisense direction to the ZNF341 gene[5]. As with most antisense RNAs, it is thought to regulate the expression of its sense counterpart (here, ZNF341), potentially affecting gene expression via chromatin modification, transcriptional interference, or RNA-RNA interactions, although a specific functional role for ZNF341-AS1 has not been directly described in the available literature[3]. There is no evidence that ZNF341-AS1 is currently considered a therapeutic target, used as a biomarker, or has established links to human disease. Antisense RNAs in general can regulate gene expression by influencing transcription, translation, RNA stability, or chromatin structure related to their corresponding sense gene[3]. Most disease associations and therapeutic interest center on the sense gene, ZNF341, rather than ZNF341-AS1[1][4][6][7].
