ZNF451 regulatory antisense RNA 1 (ZNF451-AS1), also known as BC032020, is a long non-coding RNA that negatively regulates the expression of the protein-coding gene ZNF451. ZNF451-AS1 is typically found at lower levels in human pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) tissues compared to adjacent normal tissues, and its overexpression leads to a reduction in ZNF451 levels. Functionally, ZNF451-AS1/BC032020 acts as a tumor suppressor in pancreatic cancer by inhibiting cell proliferation and migration, inducing G1 phase cell cycle arrest, and promoting apoptosis. These effects are thought to be mediated through its inverse relationship with ZNF451, a gene involved in the regulation of transcription and the TGF-beta signaling pathway. Overexpression of ZNF451-AS1 in PDAC cell lines also suppresses tumor growth in xenograft models, supporting its role as an important regulator in cancer biology[1].
