It is classified as a divergent transcript, defined as a lncRNA situated within 300-500 nucleotides of a protein-coding gene (in this case, ZNF516). It is annotated as a putative uncharacterized protein, but there is no evidence supporting its translation into a functional protein product, nor a defined biological role. Do not confuse with the protein-coding gene ZNF516 (zinc finger protein 516), which is a transcription factor; ZNF516-DT is a distinct non-coding RNA locus adjacent to that gene.
