Overview

ZNF519 antisense RNA 1 (ZNF519-AS1) is an antisense long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from the opposite DNA strand of the ZNF519 gene. Antisense lncRNAs like ZNF519-AS1 are non-protein coding transcripts that modulate gene expression, often through direct interaction with their sense gene, recruitment of chromatin-modifying enzymes, or changes in mRNA stability. While many antisense lncRNAs have been implicated in cancer and other diseases where they can function as oncogenes or tumor suppressors[6], no specific disease associations or therapeutic roles have currently been described for ZNF519-AS1. Its function remains to be directly established, but it belongs to a well-characterized class of regulatory RNAs involved broadly in the fine-tuning of gene expression[4][7].

Mechanism of action

No drug mechanism is described for ZNF519-AS1; mechanisms are more broadly characterized for the antisense lncRNA class, such as regulating gene expression via chromatin modification, mRNA stability, or translation[6].
