Target intelligence / Profile preview
ZNF528 antisense RNA 1 (ZNF528-AS1) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) classified as a natural antisense transcript relative to the ZNF528 gene.[9][6][3] Its functional role remains largely uncharacterized but antisense lncRNAs are generally involved in regulating gene expression at multiple molecular levels, such as replication, transcription, and translation.[9][6][8] Dysregulation of ZNF528-AS1 and other antisense lncRNAs in osteosarcoma and other cancers suggests important roles in tumor progression, metastasis, and therapy resistance.[6][9] ZNF528-AS1 has been identified as upregulated in osteosarcoma tissue and cell lines, supporting its utility as a candidate biomarker and as a potential therapeutic target for cancer research.[9][6] There are currently no known pharmacological agents targeting this RNA directly, and its role in diseases outside of cancer remains unclear, although GeneCards notes a nominal association with Cockayne Syndrome A, possibly by genomic proximity or regulatory influence.[7][9]
