Overview

ZNF630 antisense RNA 1 (ZNF630-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from the opposite strand of the ZNF630 gene, with both sharing a bidirectional promoter. ZNF630-AS1 does not code for a protein but appears to participate in the regulation of gene expression, possibly modulating the expression of its sense counterpart, ZNF630. Differential expression of ZNF630-AS1 has been observed in various cancer types, suggesting a potential role in tumor development or progression. However, its specific biological functions, molecular mechanisms, and roles in disease remain largely uncharacterized and require further study. As a lncRNA, ZNF630-AS1 may influence chromatin remodeling, transcription, and post-transcriptional regulation, but it is not considered a traditional therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or similar druggable class. ZNF630-AS1 is a long non-coding RNA rather than a receptor, enzyme, or other typical therapeutic target molecule. Expression data suggest a connection with various types of cancer. This makes ZNF630-AS1 of interest for research, but it is not currently a biomarker or drug target. There are no known drugs that target ZNF630-AS1, and it is not currently leveraged as a biomarker or for patient selection. General functions of antisense lncRNAs often include regulation of gene expression (locally or distally), affecting chromatin state, and involvement in cell differentiation and development. However, for ZNF630-AS1 specifically, the details are still unclear. No alternate names, disease biomarkers, or safety concerns were found in current sources. Further research may clarify the functional significance of ZNF630-AS1 in health and disease.
