ZNF775 antisense RNA 1 (ZNF775-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed in the antisense direction from the ZNF775 gene locus on human chromosome 7. As an antisense RNA, ZNF775-AS1 does not code for a protein but may regulate the expression of its sense partner, ZNF775, or other genes through transcriptional interference, modulation of chromatin structure, or RNA-RNA interactions. Antisense RNAs like ZNF775-AS1 play critical roles in gene regulation, epigenetic processes, and post-transcriptional control. While the precise biological function of ZNF775-AS1 is not yet fully characterized, studies suggest roles in regulation of gene expression and possible involvement in cancer biology, especially as lncRNAs are often dysregulated in tumors. There are no approved drugs or direct therapeutic interventions targeting ZNF775-AS1, but lncRNAs are increasingly investigated for their utility as disease biomarkers and for potential targeting by antisense-based therapies.
