ZNF778 divergent transcript (ZNF778-DT) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed at the ZNF778 locus, also known as RP5-821D11.7. The specific molecular and biological function of ZNF778-DT has not been characterized. As a divergent non-coding transcript near a zinc finger protein-encoding gene (ZNF778), it may play a regulatory role in transcription or chromatin states. However, there is no definitive evidence establishing it as a therapeutic target, nor links to disease or clinical drug interactions at present. ZNF778-DT is an RNA transcript overlapping/diverging from the ZNF778 locus, but should not be confused with the protein-coding ZNF778 gene itself, which is a KRAB-domain C2H2-type zinc finger transcription factor implicated in neural development and cognitive disorders. Data on biological function, disease relevance, or clinical utility of ZNF778-DT is currently insufficient, and it is not considered a classical therapeutic target.
