ZNF793 antisense RNA 1 (ZNF793-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) classified as an antisense RNA because it is transcribed in the opposite orientation to the ZNF793 gene. It is located on the human chromosome 19q13.12 and does not encode a protein[2][1]. ZNF793-AS1 participates in regulation of gene expression, potentially acting via the recruitment of transcription factors, modulation of chromatin state, or affecting alternative splicing through interactions with splicing factors[2]. As with many lncRNAs, ZNF793-AS1 is not considered a canonical "therapeutic target" like a receptor, enzyme, or transporter, nor are there clinically validated drugs/biomarkers or established safety concerns directly linked to it[1][2].
