ZNRD2-DT
Molecular classification

Overview

ZNRD2 divergent transcript (ZNRD2-DT; also known as ZNRD2-AS1 or SSSCA1-AS1) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene located near, and transcribed antisense to, the protein-coding gene ZNRD2 (Zinc Ribbon Domain Containing 2)[3][7][5]. Consistent with its classification as a divergent transcript, ZNRD2-DT is a non-protein-coding RNA produced from a region close to the ZNRD2 gene but running in the opposite (antisense) direction[8][3]. Such divergent lncRNAs are widely found in the genome and are proposed to play roles in gene expression regulation, chromatin structure, and possibly in maintaining promoter activity, though their precise molecular and biological functions are usually poorly understood[8][4][6]. No drugs, biomarkers, or safety concerns specific to ZNRD2 divergent transcript have been reported. There is currently no evidence that ZNRD2-DT is a functional receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other classical drug target. Some weak, indirect disease associations have been reported in gene databases, but clinical significance or mechanistic understanding is lacking[7].
