ZSCAN2 antisense RNA 1 (ZSCAN2-AS1) is a long non-coding antisense RNA transcript that is complementary to the ZSCAN2 genomic locus. It is classified as an antisense RNA and does not code for a protein. As with other long non-coding antisense RNAs, ZSCAN2-AS1 is believed to play a regulatory role in gene expression, potentially influencing chromatin architecture, regulating transcription of its sense counterpart, and possibly participating in post-transcriptional regulation through RNA-RNA or RNA-protein interactions. However, there is currently no evidence that ZSCAN2-AS1 is a protein-coding therapeutic target, nor are there specific functional or disease associations, interacting drugs, or known biomarker roles documented for this gene[1][2][3][5].
