Drug intelligence / Profile preview
177Lu-rituximab (also known as 177Lu-DOTA-rituximab) is a CD20-targeted radioimmunotherapy consisting of the chimeric anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody rituximab conjugated to the beta-emitting radionuclide lutetium-177 (177Lu) via a chelator such as DOTA or CHX-A''-DTPA. It is developed for the treatment of CD20-positive B-cell malignancies, including relapsed or refractory follicular lymphoma, mantle cell lymphoma, and other indolent B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphomas (NHL). Upon administration, the antibody binds specifically to CD20 on B-lymphocytes, delivering localized beta radiation that induces DNA damage and cell death in target tumor cells, while minimizing systemic toxicity.
