18F-CDKi is a radiolabeled small molecule positron emission tomography (PET) imaging tracer designed to target cyclin-dependent kinases 4 and 6 (CDK4/6). Developed by researchers at Xiang'an Hospital of Xiamen University, this tracer is used to visualize and quantify the expression of CDK4/6 in tumors, particularly in patients with hormone receptor-positive (HR+), HER2-negative breast cancer. By measuring the molecular function of CDK4/6, 18F-CDKi PET imaging serves as a diagnostic tool to evaluate and predict the response to neoadjuvant therapies that combine aromatase inhibitors with therapeutic CDK4/6 inhibitors. This approach facilitates personalized treatment monitoring and the early detection of therapeutic resistance.
