Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**211At-rituximab** is an experimental targeted alpha-radioimmunotherapy consisting of the anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody rituximab covalently labeled with the alpha-particle-emitting radionuclide astatine-211. Binding of the rituximab component to CD20-positive B-cell lymphoma cells localizes high-linear-energy-transfer alpha radiation to malignant B cells, causing lethal DNA damage over a short tissue range. It has been evaluated in preclinical non-Hodgkin lymphoma models, including selective in-vitro cytotoxicity studies in human B-lymphoma cell lines and mouse biodistribution experiments; it is not an approved therapeutic product.
